A Night at the Opera concert, Feb 24-18
Congratulations to the York Symphony Orchestra for the outstanding performance they put on at the Richmond Hill Performing Arts Centre on Sunday. If anyone has never been to a similar event, does not know what they are missing. The conductor Denis Mastromonaco who also MC’d the program, and I presume was responsible for musical arrangements and the opera singers selections, was outstanding.
I will be remiss if I did not mention the talented individuals soprano Nicole Dubinsky and Beth Hagerman who measured up and sometimes exceeded famous artists in any European country.
The Opera York Chorus did a phenomenal job singing VaPensiero (chorus of the Hebrew slaves) and LaTraviata finale.I am sending in my membership dues today and strongly suggest to any classical/opera buff in York Region who wants to support this endeavour (and not pay up to $500 a ticket for a Toronto show), get on board right away.
We are lucky to have a first class performing arts venue in our own backyard operated by talented staff; and see a phenomenal show for the price of a couple of hamburgers !
